$30.06 to $39.86 an hour
Hours Per Week:
Full Time - 1664 annually
Daily 8 hours (8:00 am to 16:30 pm)

Wetaskiwin Regional Public Schools is seeking a full time, compassionate, culturally grounded, and relationship-focused Indigenous Support Worker to join our Learning Support Team at Wetaskiwin Composite High School.
In this role, you will advocate for and support Indigenous students and families, helping ensure every student feels connected, cared for, supported, respected, and valued. Your work will contribute to the mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional well-being of Indigenous students while building meaningful relationships across our schools and communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Foster positive, supportive relationships with students, families, and the community.
- Collaborate with the Learning Support Team to create welcoming and safe school environments.
- Advocate for students by helping address barriers to success, such as attendance, wellness, and basic needs.
- Participate in student support meetings and collaborate with school and community partners.
- Organize and support cultural programming and opportunities.
- Track student data (attendance, progress, transitions) and communicate with the school team.
- Uphold confidentiality and professional communication at all times.
Qualifications
- Diploma in Human Services or related field (e.g., Native Studies, Social Work, Education).
- Strong knowledge and understanding of Indigenous cultures—especially Plains Cree language and traditions.
- Experience working collaboratively in school and/or community settings.
- Ability to develop supportive relationships with children, youth, and families.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Valid Alberta Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and WRPS Health & Safety standards.
