Registration Information

Welcome! We look forward to having your child(ren) join our school community.

If you are new to Wetaskiwin Regional Public Schools, please locate the designated school closest to your home address and complete our online registration.

Student attendance areas are established by the Board to optimize enrollment in each school. Student enrollment impacts manageable class size, school staffing and resources.  A school is designated based on where the student’s residence is located.

Kindergarten - To be eligible, children must be five years of age by December 31st in the year they wish to register for Kindergarten. See Administrative Procedure 300 - Admission Age of Students.

To register your child online, please click here. You are required to create a SchoolEngage account in order to complete a registration online.

Do you already have a student attending a WRPS School?
To register a new Early Ed (Pre-K) or Kindergarten student in your family, go to your PowerSchool Parent Portal and login with your existing username and password to find the SchoolEngage link at the bottom in the left hand menu. Once you are in your account, you can add a student.

Grades 1 to 12 Student Registration:

If your child already attends school within Wetaskiwin Regional Public Schools, each spring you will receive email notification to login to your PowerSchool Parent Portal account to complete an online Re-enrollment Form through SchoolEngage. This confirms student demographics as well as registration for the upcoming school year.

In cases where your child is transitioning from elementary to junior high or junior to senior high school, this will also be addressed through the online Re-enrollment Form.

Independent Student

An Independent Student is a student who is:

a) 18 years of age or older, or
b) 16 years of age or older and
    i  living independently as determined by a board in accordance with section 6 of the Education Act, or
    ii is party to an agreement under section 57.2 of the Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act.

Families may request to attend a school other than their designated school. Refer to the Parent Choice webpage for more information.

More Information About the Online Registration Process

School Engage is a convenient, secure online enrolment system. This replaces our annual Registration Verification Form for demographic updates and verifies all student information for every child prior to the start of the school year.

Examples of accepted documentation:

  • Canadian provincial birth certificate
  • Canadian citizenship document
  • Foreign Birth Certificate
  • Student Visa
  • Student immigration papers, student visa, or study permit. Landed immigrant documentation or permanent/temporary residence care will also be required for parents.
  • Guardianship Letter: if parents live outside of Alberta legal guardianship must be applied for through Alberta Government.
  • Verification of residency such as driver's license, utility bill, lease agreement, property tax bill.

What if I don't have access to a computer?

  • All schools have computers available for parents who do not have a computer or internet access.
  • The SchoolEngage system is mobile friendly, you can use your smartphone or tablet to register.

What if I don't have a access to a scanner?

Bring your supporting documents into the school to ensure your registration is complete. Alternatively, take a photo with your smartphone or tablet, then upload it directly to the form.
