Alberta’s government recognizes that school bus drivers are a vital part of our school communities. The Student Transportation Association of Alberta requested that May 3 be declared School Bus Driver Appreciation Day.

WRPS recognizes the hard work and dedication of our bus drivers each school day.

For our bused students, the school day starts when they board the bus to go to school. WRPS has 38 school bus drivers who play a crucial role in the safety and well-being of the 1395 transported students to and from school each day in our community. "That's approximately 21 times around the world, or 850,000 km per year!" states Transportation Manager Billy Loiselle.

“Their efforts are even more important during this pandemic. School bus drivers are following COVID-19 guidelines to ensure student safety on school buses and are taking extra precautions, such as sanitizing their buses and keeping daily logs of seating plans, to assist with contact tracing." ~Minister LaGrange

If you see a bus driver today, show your appreciation with a wave or a thank you!
