What Does the Fox Say … at Falun School?

On September 30th, 2015, Falun School was the place to be! Not only did they enjoy an open house for the families of the students, they were also celebrating the tenth anniversary of the new school building and participating in our 21st annual Terry Fox Run.

Parents and guardians were invited to spend the day at school getting to know the staff, their child’s new teacher and learning about school routines. Two special assemblies were held during the day where each class introduced themselves with a group cheer or song. Staff and students also explained all of the various clubs and activities that would be open to students, at noon break, throughout the year.

To commemorate the 10th anniversary of the school building, staff organized a ten event, “Amazing Run”, Falun edition. The Grade Six leadership group headed up ten teams, consisting of students from Kindergarten to Grade Six, eager to embark on the race of a lifetime. The successful completion of all ten legs gave the teams a passport to the Terry Fox Run which was being held outside.

As a staff we had challenged our students to raise $4000.00 for cancer research, which was approximately double our usual total. If they were successful we promised to dance to the song, “What Does the Fox Say?”. With a little public humiliation on the line, our students rose to the challenge and actual surpassed our expectations! So, we did indeed, have the entire school staff get up and dance for our students at an assembly.

Congratulations to all of our students and staff on a job well done and sharing together such an amazing experience!
