Wetaskiwin Home Education has offered a variety of student and parent workshops to the community of Home Educators in the Wetaskiwin area. The workshops have taken a variety of formats in a variety of settings, with topics ranging from poetry to math games.
The latest workshop was a Bar Modelling workshop for a “Mom’s Night Out” in Wetaskiwin. Bar Modelling is a process designed by Singapore Math for solving math word problems. Bar Modelling is a consistent method used to interpret, draw a model of and then solve math word problems. This process can be used from Grade 1 on and provides students with a consistent way to attack and solve math word problems.
