Wetaskiwin Composite High School Celebrates Spring in a Big Way!

It was a beautiful day with perfect weather for the Annual WCHS Spring Carnival.  Every student at Wetaskiwin Composite High School was treated to a spectacular spring celebration on June3rd.  Using the flex time to extend lunch to 80 minutes, students were treated to free hot dogs, free drinks, free jumbo freezies and a free ride on a huge inflatable obstacle course!

Student Council worked with their staff advisors, Mrs. Simpson and Mrs. McFeely to put together the best Spring Carnival ever!  The feature of the day was the huge obstacle course that occupied the front lawn.  Students had to work hard to get through the course to the 25 foot monster slide at the end.  Students were a little “stand-off-ish” initially; maybe not sure of how it all worked, but soon, a steady line of racers gathered.  Staff and students raced through until the lunch ended.

Students spun cotton candy, dished out hot dogs, and took in a fantastic magic show by the Mesmerizing Mr. Way.  His “powers” amazed the students.  Music provided the background to the “pie throw” that featured staff, students and even WRPS School Board Chair, Barb Johnson, as targets of the whip cream mess.

Organizing an event of this nature for seven hundred students is no small feat!  The Student Council did an outstanding job, right down to the last detail.  The election for next year’s council was held on the following day.  Co-presidents Jennifer Anderson and Jaslyn Rasmuson will lead the council.  Co-Vice Presidents Katie Ballhorn and Julia Marquardt will join Communications Officer Shayla Fiveland and other volunteer members in organizing another fantastic year of charitable, fun and spirit filled activities.
