On Wednesday, June 21, WCHS held a room dedication for the Wahkohtowin Room.
It was a fantastic way to celebrate Aboriginal Day (now to be known as National Indigenous Peoples Day) and to have our elder perform ceremonies to bless the room. Guests enjoyed a pipe ceremony, smudging, drumming and singing from the drum group Maskwa Ridge. This was followed by a delicious feast.
The room is intended to offer support for our Indigenous students. It will offer nutrition, guidance and, academic support from a Success Coach with the intention of helping our students complete high school.
