In response to the drastic increases in school bus insurance rates, the Wetaskiwin Regional Public Schools Board of Trustees passed the following motion on November 10, 2021:
That, for the 2021-2022 school year, WRPS administration assess transportation fees of $50 from all riders to cover increased insurance premiums.
By December 3, 2021, the $50 transportation insurance fee will be applied to the student’s PowerSchool account and can be paid online. If you require assistance with access to the portal, please contact your child’s school.
The transportation department worked with the bus contractors to verify ridership lists and apply fees only to those students who ride the bus. However, if you have been assessed a fee in error, please notify transportation@wrps11.ca and the student will be removed from the transportation list.
