Mr. Brian Wildcat from Miyo Wahkowtin Education in Maskwacis spoke to WRPS Administrators and Central Office staff on the "History of Education in Maskwacis" from pre-treaty to today. He shared the future hopes of the four bands.
Mr. Wildcat presented to our administration to increase our understanding and awareness of Indigenous history and impact.
We gifted Miyo Wahkotowin Education a Simone McLeod painting titled "Building Partnerships" to honour our partnership over the years and recognize our work together in the "Building Collaboration and Capacity in Education (BCCE) grant.
The focus of this grant is to build capacity to impact students and school communities using collaborative practices to develop strong sustainable relationships and shared influence between Miyo Wahkohtowin Education and Wetaskiwin Regional Public Schools.
Mr. Wildcat's presentation helped to enhance our relationship and is one piece of many on the intentional work we are doing through this grant.
