At Norwood, we believe in building community within our school which is why we looked for ways to bring kids together. This week we will return to the reading buddies groups we started in October. Students from Kindergarten to grade 4 have been grouped with students in grades 5-8 for the opportunity to spend time reading together. Students come together every day 4, before lunch, to build connections while improving their literacy skills. Sometimes, the older students read to their younger buddies, while other days the younger students will read and/or talk about the books they love. As we move forward, students will transition into numeracy skills as well with math games at varying levels to keep all engaged. One just needs to walk through the building during these times to see how much enjoyment the students get from working with one another!
