Playful Exploration at EEFWC

The children at the Early Education Centre are naturally curious which leads to wonderful experiential learning opportunities. A recent Boat Building activity had all the children actively engaged in their learning. Rich in concept development and language learning, the group discussed the concepts of floating and sinking. Each child then made a plan for their boat by drawing a picture, choosing materials and building their boat. After testing to see if the boat floated or sank, they modified the plans and altered their designs. Some children did this up to 7 times! What a wonderful example of being an Engaged Thinker.

The curiosity continued: Could we make the boat move faster? Using straws to add “wind” to the sailing experience, they were able to move their boats around. Some children learned that blowing on the mast makes them go even faster!
