Performing Arts at Winfield School

Students at Winfield School showcased their talent on February 7, by participating in our school talent show. This opportunity enabled interested students to demonstrate their abilities to peers and parents while increasing their self-confidence and performance skills.

24 acts comprised of students from kindergarten to grade 6 signed up to perform! Thirteen acts performed at the show by singers; dancers; actors; piano, guitar and violin players; and a magician. Our visual arts category saw 6 students display their work in a variety of mediums including painting on canvas, pencil drawing, shrink art, and tempera painting. The showmanship and perseverance all students demonstrated in preparing their acts and artwork were inspiring, and the courage the demonstrated to perform in front of an audience was outstanding.

Additional opportunities are provided for Winfield students to experience the performing arts. Our annual Christmas concert allows all students to perform musical selections and/or acting roles. Students took pride in their performance and dazzled our audience.

In the spring, Winfield School will be hosting an artist-in-residence. The art duo, Zuma, will be working with all students every day for one week to develop performance pieces around a common theme. Students will write scripts, create props, puppets, or instruments, and will perform the production at the end of the week. Winfield School is looking forward to this opportunity to engage in the full production of a student-driven show.
