Parent and Family Evenings at Griffiths-Scott School

Who wants to come back to school in the evening? Well at GSS, we have a lot of parents and students who joined us for some exciting Parent Evenings this year!

Our first event was on Wednesday, October 4.  During the day, author Sigmund Brouwer, shared a great presentation called Rock and Roll Literacy with all students and staff.  The students were so engaged in the presentation that many of them eagerly came back with their parents for the evening show!  Parents enjoyed the rock and roll (some of which took us all back to high school) and the chance to see their children excited about stories. Sigmund presented free books to all the students in attendance and everyone left the school thinking about the impact stories have made in their lives.

On November 20, our doors were open once again to students and their parents for an evening of Sensory Fun for Everyone.  This time kids aged preschoolers to grade 5 enjoyed a variety of sensory activities through play.  Thank you to the Julia from Parent Link, Jill Meyers (Occupational Therapist) and our Family School Liaison Worker, Christie Dewald, for organizing an evening of fun and messy learning!

These opportunities for families to gather in our beautiful school for sharing, learning and play, create a sense of community as we settle into our K - 8 environment. The sound of children laughing, the smiles on parents’ faces and the enthusiasm for learning are evidence that everyone should come back to school in the evening!
