Lakedell Smudging Leaders have been leading smudging before the start of most school days for over fifty students almost every day since we started smudging on November 1, 2016.

To prepare for smudging the leaders share that they are responsible for rolling the sweet-grass and sage, starting the fan and getting the student circle ready for smudging.  When they light the smudge, students smudge their eyes to see the good in people, their ears to hear the best about people, and their legs to walk the good path throughout the day.  When students smudge their heart, they do it to love each other and as the smoke rises it carries your prayers to the creator.

The students say that they take pride in being smudging leaders because they like to help our other students to learn about smudging and they are proud to be leaders of Lakedell School.
