Griffiths-Scott Middle School Students to Attend UNESCO Conference

Two lucky students from Griffiths Scott Middle School, Millet AB., will attend the 2016 National UNESCO Schools Conference April 24-26 in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

The conference is entitled Building a Sustainable Future: Global Citizens in the 21st Century and will focus upon Global Citizenship Education (GCED). Kolton and Ayden are both excited to travel to the conference and learn more about how to be global citizens and what this actually looks like in the school environment and their town. Both students have previously been involved in GSMS’ UNESCO fundraisers and awareness events and they have heartfelt reasons for wishing to attend the conference.

The hope is that these students will return with infectious passion for global citizenship and a full understanding of participation. Travelers will “take part in an interactive and immersive experience on human rights and social inclusion.” The boys are also excited to meet and enjoy similarly committed students from across Canada after flying to Winnipeg! An in-school presentation upon return will allow the boys their first opportunity to share their experiences and discoveries, thereby inspiring fellow students, teachers and staff.

Congratulations Kolton and Ayden!
