Clear Vista Garden - Coming Fall 2015

Work will soon begin on an exciting new project at Clear Vista - before the end of this school year, ground will be broken for our garden project.  Clear Vista students will soon be able to experience the many benefits of a vegetable and perennial garden. In September of 2015, students will be able to plant spring flowering bulbs, perennial flowers and fruit bearing shrubs. In the spring of 2016, students will have the opportunity to plant vegetables, which they may use as part of their classroom curriculum or to provide food for the local food bank.

Gardens promote better nutrition and health; they promote physical activity, self- esteem, life skills, pride and a sense of belonging. As well, gardening supports multiple aspects of the school curriculum across the divisions. Students will learn:  how to create an organic environment through composting; which plants are used as a food source; what plants need to thrive; how plants reproduce; how seeds are distributed….the possibilities are many!

There will also be bird feeders for winter feeding of birds and benches for those who just want to stop and smell the roses!

We are excited to watch our garden grow!
