Board Meeting Highlights May 26, 2015

 Board Advocacy Plan
The Board has adopted their new Advocacy Plan for 2015-2016. The major goal of the plan is to advocate for programs and services that meet the needs of all students in WRPS.

WCHS Modernization 
The architectural design for the Wetaskiwin Composite High School modernization project is nearly completed. Advertising for tenders will take place over the next two weeks, with a closing date on June 25, 2015. Construction should commence before the 2015-2016 school year.  The Board decided to delegate the authority to award the Wetaskiwin Composite High School’s Major Modernization construction to the Superintendent of Schools and the Associate Superintendent: Business.

Pipestone School Roofing Project
Wetaskiwin Regional Public Schools has accepted the low bid of $277,994.85 from Fraser Bros Roofing for the Pipestone School Roofing Project. 

Teaching Assistants Receive New Job Title
Teaching Assistants will now be referred to as Educational Assistants. This change is reflective of the programming names of the Educational Assistant programs at post-secondary institutions. This change will be implemented throughout the 2015-2016 school year.
