Board Meeting Highlights December 16, 2014

Board Recognizes Three WCHS Students for Outstanding Achievement
The Board of Trustees recognized three Wetaskiwin Composite High School students who scored 100% on their June diploma exams.   The Board commended Ben Ripka who was awarded 100% in Physics 30, Melissa Foss who was awarded 100% in Physics 30 and Sam Rupertus who was awarded 100% in Science 30. The Board also commended the two Wetaskiwin Composite High School teachers Mr. Paul Way who teaches Physics 30 and Ms. Charlene McFeely who teaches the Science 30.   Board Chair Deanna Specht presented each student with a $100.00 cheque from the Board on behalf of this achievement.

Board Approves 2015-2016 School Year Calendar
The Board approved the 2015-2016 school year calendars.  The calendar feedback from school councils, staff and community partners was considered prior to the Board making a decision to approve the 2015-2016 school year calendar.

Employee Assistance Program Changes
Through our partnership with the Alberta School Employee Benefits Plan (ASEBP), Wetaskiwin Regional Public Schools will be offering changes to the Employee Family Assistance Program (EFAP), effective January 1, 2015.  The ASEBP program offers Counselling Services as well as Plan Smart Lifestyle and Specialty Counselling, a series of work-life services that allows all employees to access expert advice, information and coaching.

Employee Recognition and Exemplary Achievement Procedure
Administrative Procedure 411: Employee and Exmplary Achievement has been revised.  Changes to this procedure include new guidelines for employee recognition and service.

Christmas Closure
The Wetaskiwin Regional Public Schools Central Office will be closed for Christmas from 4:30 p.m. on December 23, 2014 to 8:30 a.m. on January 5, 2015.
