2015-2016 Modular Requests
The Capital Planning Branch of Alberta Education requires that school Boards place requests for the 2015-2016 school year by November 3, 2014.  The Board discussed the previous request and determined that they will submit the request for four modular classrooms for the Griffiths-Scott Middle School to accommodate the possible relocation of students from the Millet School. 

ASEBP Employee Assistance Program

The Board Human Resources committee will meet with the Economic Policy Committee of the ATA Local and a representative from the Alberta School Employee Benefit Plan (ASEBP) to hear the ASEBP presentation of their Employee Assistance Program and to ask questions for clarification, to determine if the ASEBP Employee Assistance Program should be provided to WRPS employees. 

Response to Intervention
The Board was appraised of the decision by the System Administrators to implement the Response to Intervention model as a continuation of the Wetaskiwin Regional Public Schools “Learning Cycle” work.  The RTI model will assist the Division to achieve the vision of “Inspiring Education”.  Wetaskiwin Regional Public Schools is committed to implementing RTI in every school throughout the Division.  Administrators will now commence their work to ensure the effective implementation of RTI framework in every school and every classroom throughout the Division.

September 30, 2014 Enrollment
Wetaskiwin Regional Public Schools has seen a slight increase in enrollment for the 2014/2015 school year. Enrollment has increased by 15.50 full time equivalent (FTE) students compared to the September 30, 2013 student enrollment count.  It was noted that the number of resident students has actually decreased by 22.5 FTE from last year with the increase in enrollment being realized by an increase of 38 non-resident FNMI students. The total September 30, 2014 enrollment for Wetaskiwin Regional Public Schools is 3803.50 FTE.  

School Councils to Receive Fiscal Accountability Training
All Wetaskiwin Regional Public Schools, School Councils and Parent Advisory Councils will receive fiscal accountability training early in 2015.  This training will be for all School Council Chairs, Treasurers or anyone who has a signing authority role for a WRPS School Council or fund raising entity. The sessions will inform school council members about their responsibilities related to fund raising committees and fiscal accountability.  Dates and times of the sessions are yet to be determined.
