The Board of Trustees of Wetaskiwin Regional Public Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Peter Barron as its new Superintendent of Schools, effective August 1, 2020. As the School Board’s sole employee, the Superintendent is the key conduit between the elected School Board and the Division’s staff and students.
“We are very pleased to welcome Peter to our Division,” said Board Chair Lynn Ware. “He will be a good addition to our team as we navigate through the current challenges.”
Peter comes to Wetaskiwin Regional Public Schools with many years’ experience in Alberta public education. Much of his teaching and administration experience was at Elk Island Public Schools where he progressed from teaching to a series of principalships, at both the K-9 and high school levels. He went on to central administration responsibilities at Elk Island Public Schools and a one-year secondment to Alberta Education in National and International Education before accepting the position of Superintendent at Clearview Public Schools.
During his six years at Clearview, Peter was credited with re-shaping the Division’s operation into a team-based environment and with leading improvements in student achievement. He is a well-prepared forward-thinker who is innovative and loves taking on educational and administrative challenges.
We hope you will join us in welcoming Peter to Wetaskiwin Regional Public Schools.
