On September 27th, Alder Flats School took part in activities around ‘Orange Shirt Day’ and ‘Terry Fox’.

In the morning, each class watched a video presentation on residential schools and listened to the story, ‘Stolen Words’ by Melanie Florence. Following this, all students met in the gym to paint rocks as a tribute to all the children who attended residential schools. We will create a rock garden with our painted rocks outside near a bench we have on the playground. We were very lucky to have Bernice Mackinaw prepare bannock for the whole school! Yum! Yum!

In the afternoon, all students watched a video on Terry Fox. Students were given a running shoe to write on, and share their own dreams. Following this, we met in the gym to do a warmup before each class set off to do their run for Terry fox.

A FUN day was had all at Alder Flats School!!
