Students and staff from Pigeon Lake Regional School, Falun Elementary and Buck Mountain Central School celebrated National Indigenous Peoples Day on Tuesday, June 21.

The day, which falls on the summer solstice, is meant to recognize and honour First Nations, Inuit and Métis cultures and their contributions.

The three schools celebrated the day together at Pigeon Lake Regional School, where there was a prayer, a teaching in teepee raising, a round dance, and a soup and bannock luncheon.

A huge thank you goes out to all the staff, students and volunteers who made the day successful.
