Parkdale School Community Events and Activities

December is a busy month at Parkdale School. We are fortunate to have great community relationships with Hope Mission, Wetaskiwin Family Chiropractor Clinic, United Church and Calvary Baptist Church. These community members have helped to support our school and students, and it is appreciated.

Our students are learning the importance of sharing and giving back to the community that is helping to raise and support them. Our student leadership group organized a mitten, toque and sock drive to support Neighborhood Outreach Wetaskiwin. Our students often visit Season’s Retirement Community to sing, or celebrate a holiday. A shared sense of community is an important part of Parkdale School and we are working hard to establish these relationships.

As we move into the last couple of weeks before the break, we are celebrating literacy and getting ready for the Christmas Concert. On December 13th Parkdale School had a Polar Express Morning. Based on the book by Chris Van Allsburg, the students worked in cross-grade partner groups and traveled through a variety of stations. They worked together on literacy, numeracy and practiced conversation skills while enjoying hot chocolate.

On December 19th at 1:00 pm and 6:30 pm we will be having our Christmas Concert, and students from all grades are involved. The show is a musical concert set within a play. The audience experiences Christmas around the world as our Parkdale news team and field reporters track Santa on his journey. We are excited to share our students’ talent with our families and the community.

Parkdale School would like to wish all families a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
