Barb Johnson, Board Chair, and Terry Pearson, Superintendent of Schools, recently attended a pipe ceremony on August 22nd upon the invitation of the Maskwacis Education School Commission. The ceremony is held to commence the school year. There were prayers for good learning along with the safety of students and staff. The blanket given by Wetaskiwin Regional Public Schools honoured the intention of the ceremony and respect for Indigenous culture. It also represents a commitment to the ongoing relationship with the Maskwacis Education School Commission, including shared responsibility for delivering high-quality education to students and recognizing the importance of their families.
